Regina N. Retoma, D.M.D.
Dr. Retoma believes: “Working with a team of dental specialists who share the same values and where communication is present is integral in improving patient outcomes.”
Dr. Retoma hails from Baltimore, MD where she grew up playing volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse. Her love of learning and traveling brought her to San Diego, CA where she received her bachelor’s degree in Animal Physiology and Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego. She then continued her education receiving a Dental Hygiene degree from the Forsyth Institute, her dental degree from Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine, and completing her Orthodontic residency program also at Tufts University, School of Dental Medicine.
Her interests and continuing educational pursuits focus on interdisciplinary care allowing her to stay current with advances in not only her field of orthodontics but also the restorative, esthetic, periodontal, and surgical specialties.
She is a member of several professional organizations but it is her membership in the Seattle Study Club that continues to inspire her academically. For over a decade, she has attended the prestigious Seattle Study Club annual symposium enhancing her knowledge of dental, orthodontic, and surgical treatment modalities.
“What I enjoy about the symposia are the connections I make with dentists and specialists from all over the world. It is a time for us to speak candidly about our profession and our cases allowing us to bring a fresh perspective and practicality back to our practices.”
Dr. Retoma truly enjoys educating her patients and working with them to provide them the confidence and boost in self-esteem that accompanies orthodontic treatment. However, she firmly believes in enjoying life as much as her work. She enjoys meeting people from all walks of life and establishing meaningful relationships. Audacious in her pursuit to experience what the world has to offer, her adventurous spirit has her traveling the globe, pursuing and enjoying the challenges of all things related to the outdoors, and learning more about the world around her. She is fortunate to share all of this with her partner in life, her husband, and their yellow lab Ellie.
Among her favorite activities are: Crossfit, Running, Yoga, Golf, Skiing, Traveling, Fishing, Outdoor adventures, Mixology, Cooking, Baking, and Reading just about anything thought provoking.
Dr. Retoma believes relationships predicated on mutual respect and trust are keys to establishing successful partnerships. Therefore, she believes it is important to be well informed of all your treatment options in order for you to be comfortable in making the appropriate decision for you or your child.
